This map shows what each state is doing to fight global warming — together cutting the equivalent 536 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (or MMTCO2E) emissions by 2020. As world leaders meet in Copenhagen, progress at the state level is critical to showing America's commitment to fighting climate change.
Brief Summary
We know it’s possible to cut global
warming pollution fast enough to leave future generations a proud legacy.
Many states have already taken the first steps, in part as a result of
our advocacy at the state level.
At the federal level, we’re working
to build momentum for policies that reduce global warming pollution by at least
15 to 20 percent by 2020 and at least 80 percent by 2050—the science-based
reductions needed to protect future generations—while protecting consumers and
spurring the transition to a clean energy future.
To protect our environment, economy,
and future generations, we can’t settle for less.
