RSVP - Madison Activist Training

Wisconsin Environment, in conjunction with The Public Interest Network, is organizing a Free Activist Workshop at our office on Thursday, Feb. 11.

Show up ready for action -- we'll spend the day moving between large group overviews and small groups to give people an opportunity to learn and internalize skills.

The skills we'll focus on are skills that passionate activists need to know.

Here's the agenda:

6:00 - 6:15 Welcome/Introductions
6:15 - 6:30 Overview of working with the media
6:30 - 7:15 Small groups: Planning a news conference
7:15 - 7:30 Overview of pitching reporters
7:30 - 8:00 Small groups: Pitching reporters
8:00 - 8:15 Break, meet fellow area activists
8:15 - 8:30 Overview of volunteer recruitment
8:30 - 8:55 Small groups: Recruitment outreach
8:55 - 9:00 Wrap-up

The trainers will be experienced staff from Wisconsin Environment and The Public Interest Network. It's a chance to meet some of the people behind the e-mail addresses. This event is open to the public, so feel free to spread the word to other activists (or potential activists)!

The training will be held at the Wisconsin Environment office:
122 State St., Suite 310, Madison, WI 53703.

Please RSVP by filling in the form to the right if you're interested in attending.

After you RSVP, training facilitator Naomi Roth will be in touch with directions and more details about the training.

Saving national forests

Thanks to our federation’s work, more than 1.5 million citizens nationwide called on the Clinton administration to protect pristine areas in our national forests, resulting in the Roadless Rule. When the Bush administration attempted to overturn the rule, we worked with governors in seven states to petition to protect their forests.
